Your journey begins at 8:00 AM with a private pickup from your hotel in Marrakech, setting off toward the spiritual city of Fes via the mesmerizing Merzouga Desert. We will begin our ascent of the High Atlas Mountains, passing through the traditional villages of Toama and Ait Berkka and the lush Touflih forest reserve. After a refreshing stop at a natural mountain spring, we will navigate the scenic curves of the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, reaching its majestic summit at 2,260 meters. From here, you will admire breathtaking views of Berber villages nestled deep in the mountains.
Our exploration continues to the historic Telouet Kasbah, a former palatial residence of the Pasha of Marrakech, before crossing the picturesque Ounila Valley to reach the world-famous Ait Ben Haddou. You will explore this UNESCO World Heritage site—a masterpiece of Moroccan clay architecture—alongside an expert local guide. After visiting the iconic film studios and the Taourirt Kasbah in Ouarzazate, we will head toward the Skoura palm grove and the fragrant Valley of the Roses. The day concludes with a drive through the scenic Dades Valley, surrounded by fields of roses, almond, and fig trees, until we reach the Dades Gorges. Here, you will spend your first night in a charming traditional guesthouse, including an authentic Berber dinner.
After a delicious Berber breakfast, our expedition continues toward the Sahara. We will pause at Boumalne Dades to capture stunning photographs before traveling through the dramatic landscapes between the High Atlas and Anti-Atlas ranges, crossing the rugged Saghro peaks to reach the city of Tinghir, where we will explore its ancient Jewish Quarter. The journey leads us to the breathtaking Todra Gorges, a massive limestone canyon that is a true wonder of nature.
After exploring the gorges, we will traverse the villages of Tinjdad and the city of Erfoud, known for its fossils, as we make our way to the golden gates of the desert. Upon reaching Merzouga, we will have a brief rest at a local hotel before meeting our camel caravan. You will embark on a sunset camel trek across the majestic Erg Chebbi dunes, the highest in Morocco, where the shifting colors of the sand will offer endless surprises. Spending the night at our Sahara Desert Camp is the soul of this journey; you will enjoy an authentic Moroccan dinner and sleep in traditional nomadic tents under a spectacular canopy of Sahara stars.
Our final day begins early in the Sahara, as we rise to witness a breathtaking sunrise over the golden horizon. After an authentic breakfast, we will enjoy a final camel trek across the Erg Chebbi dunes back to the village of Merzouga to refresh and prepare for the road ahead. Our private journey then turns north toward the spiritual capital of Fes.
Today’s route is a discovery of ever-changing landscapes, starting with the stunning panoramas of the Ziz Valley, home to one of Morocco’s largest palm oases. We will enjoy a traditional lunch in the Berber village of Zaida before ascending the Middle Atlas Mountains. Here, we will traverse the vast Cedar Forests, making a special stop to observe the Barbary Macaques living in the wild. Our expedition concludes as we reach Fes in the late afternoon, marking the end of an extraordinary 3-day desert experience that has taken you from the gates of Marrakech to the heart of the Sahara and beyond.
