3-Day Sahara Desert Tour from Fes

Your 3-day desert expedition begins as we depart from the historic city of Fes, heading toward the golden dunes of Merzouga. We will travel through the breathtaking landscapes of the Middle Atlas Mountains, passing through the lush Cedar Forests of Azrou. This area is world-renowned for its resident Barbary Macaques, who are known for their friendly nature toward travelers. Our first stop is a visit to a nomadic settlement, where you will have the rare opportunity to learn about their resilient lifestyle and share a moment of hospitality in their traditional tents.

The cultural journey continues to the village of Khamlia, home to the Gnawa people. Here, you will immerse yourself in their world-renowned spiritual music and dance, a vibrant heritage brought to Morocco centuries ago that remains a cornerstone of desert culture. After a local lunch in Merzouga, the highlight of the day awaits: a sunset camel trek across the golden sands of Erg Chebbi. You will witness the sun dipping below the horizon from the highest dunes in Morocco before arriving at our nomadic camp. This magical evening includes a traditional dinner and a night spent under the infinite stars of the Sahara.

We begin our final day early, rising with the sun to witness a breathtaking Sahara sunrise painting the dunes in shades of gold. After a peaceful camel trek back to the hotel for breakfast and a refreshing shower, we set off toward Fes. Our first stop is the historic town of Rissani, the ancestral seat of the Alaouite Dynasty and the current King of Morocco. This town remains a vital cultural and commercial hub in the region.

Just a short drive away, we visit Erfoud, world-renowned for its exquisite fossil craftsmanship. You will have the chance to see how ancient fossils are meticulously transformed into beautiful artifacts and decor. From here, we begin our ascent back through the Middle Atlas Mountains, stopping for a traditional lunch in Midelt.
